A market consultations on a financial instrument "Fund for Technology Transfer" was launched
„Fund manager of financial instruments in Bulgaria“ SSC (FMFIB SSC) has launched a market consultations in connection with the preparation of terms and documents for the selection of financial intermediaries for the implementation of a financial instrument for equity/ quasi-equity investments „Funds for Technology Transfer and Innovation“, funded by the Operational Program "Innovation and Competitiveness" 2014-2020 (OPIC).
The market consultations started only four months after FMFIB SSC signed a financing agreement with the Managing Authority of OPIC with a total budget of financial instruments for equity investments amounting to € 150 million. Of these the budget for "Fund for Technology Transfer" amounts to € 30 million, as to it is provided attraction of private co-financing in size from 10 to 30 percent. Thus, the total resource on which the Bulgarian economy can rely under the equity financial instruments using European funds to stimulate innovation and achieve technological progress, will be at least € 33.3 million. The consultations are aimed at the investment community, the market participants and other stakeholders such as fund managers, investors, and other managing authorities. The "Fund for Technology Transfer" is a new tool not only for Bulgaria but also for Europe, and FMFIB SSC relys that the marketing consultation will result in optimizing the structure of the financial instrument, taking into account the current market situation and the particular needs of the potential financial intermediaries, private investors and companies seeking access to finance.
The investment focus of the "Fund for Technology Transfer" will be information technologies, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, mechatronics, nano and clean technologies as well as creative industries.
